Alfred C. Kinsey

Commissioned for the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Kinsey Institute, this life-size bronze memorial invites the viewer to sit across from his gaze—a deliberate act of being seen, echoing the honesty Kinsey asked of everyone he studied.

Before he studied human sexuality, Kinsey was an entomologist with a patient and exacting eye that he later turned on human behavior. Discontent to simply accept what was considered “normal,” his scientific instincts led him to investigate people's actual experience of sexuality at a time when the subject itself was taboo.
